Cisco Jumps Into TelePresence Market With Offering

SAN JOSE, CA --

Cisco Systems has brought its networking expertise to the so-called "TelePresence" market, also known as videoconferencing.

Announcing the soon-to-be-available "Cisco TelePresence Meeting" solution, the company offers two initial product versions. The TelePresence 1000 is focused on smaller installations, typically serving small-group meetings and one-on-one conversations. It is priced at $79,000.

The Telepresence 3000 is aimed at meeting of up to 12 persons and is priced at $299,000.

Products are expected to be available in December, 2006.
